How to treat water in a Koi aquarium, after rain:

After rain, the water in the Koi aquarium will collect a lot of dirt, bacteria pulled by rainwater from the air, lake walls and leaves,... You need:

1. Check pH concentration in water, oxygen booster:

Rainwater contains a lot of acid that changes the pH and water temperature in the lake, which can cause fish to go into shock and reduce resistance. So the first thing you should do is check the temperature and pH concentration in the water, check every 2-3 hours to promptly adjust, maintain the ph from about 7.5-8.5 and the temperature from about 28oC-30oC. At the same time, strengthen effervescent devices or waterfalls to provide more oxygen for Koi fish.

2. Change the water in the Koi aquarium, after rain:

The aquarium after rain will be infected with bacteria, increasing the possibility of causing diseases to fish, so you need to quickly replace part of the water in the lake as soon as possible to remove harmful substances, affecting the health and growth of Koi fish. The amount of water that needs to be changed should only be about 20%-30% compared to the water in the tank, should not be changed by more than 30% because this will make your fish susceptible to water shock, which is very dangerous. If your aquarium has an overflow system design, turn on the flush so that rainwater can be pushed on the surface of the lake quickly.

3. Add Salt, Vitamin C and Microorganisms to the lake:

To support the process of cleaning the water environment for fish after rain, you need to use salt because salt has an oxidizing effect to help disinfect, disinfect, increase fish resistance and help fish reduce stress. In addition, the addition of Vitamin C will also help Koi fish increase their resistance to invading pathogens. In addition, microbial supplementation is one of the essential things in the process of treating Koi aquariums after rain, microorganisms will support stabilizing the pH of the water in the lake, removing toxins contained in the water, creating a comprehensive growth environment for Koi fish. However, it is necessary to adhere to the use of the dosage according to the advice of the expert and the manufacturer's instructions for use.

4. Adjust the amount of fish feed:

After rain, you need to stop feeding the fish preferably for 1-2 days or you can feed the fish a minimum amount of food, because when it rains, the temperature and environment change, leading to the water environment being contaminated with bacteria, feeding the fish can increase the possibility of infection with pathogens for the fish. In addition, it can make the fish indigestible, adversely affecting the digestive system of the fish.

Koi fish are very sensitive species, when the environment changes, the health of Koi fish can be affected more or less. Therefore, you need to regularly monitor their health status as well as check the pH level in the water to take timely measures, ensuring the most ideal water environment for Koi fish to grow smoothly.
