When choosing to buy Koi fish, many people still wonder about the difference between Japanese and Vietnamese Koi fish. Here are some ways to differentiate between Japanese Koi fish and Vietnamese Koi:

1. Origin

·       Japanese Koi Fish: Originating from Japan, where they have been farmed and bred for centuries. It is home to Koi fish and home to many premium and traditional varieties of Koi.

·       Vietnamese Koi fish: Koi fish breeds raised and bred in Vietnam. They may have originated from Japanese Koi fish, but have undergone nurturing and breeding in Vietnam.

2. Values

· Japanese Koi fish: often of higher value, especially purebred and beautifully patterned Koi fish. They are considered the pinnacle of the aquarium world and are often played in competitions.

3. Colors and patterns

·       Vietnamese Koi: There can be a variety of colors, but often does not reach the perfect level of Japanese Koi. The red color in Vietnamese Koi fish is usually reddish-orange or orange. They may have beautiful patterns, but are usually not as complex as Japanese Koi fish.

4. Shape

·       Japanese Koi fish: inherits good genetic resources and is extremely elaborate care from the habitat to high-quality nutrition... ·       Vietnamese Koi: usually smaller and not growing to a large size like Japanese Koi. They are suitable for small aquariums and do not require a special diet to grow.

5. Behavior

  • Japanese Koi: has a relaxed, flexible, intelligent swimming posture and is easily attracted to humans. Therefore, Koi players can teach them to get used to their presence and create a sense of closeness like talking to special "friends".
  • Vietnamese Koi fish: because it has only been domesticated for a short time, it is still shy of people and does not dare to contact people. This makes high-end koi lovers not really like them.
